Alastair CadzowRole: Head of Engineering
From: Thurso, Scotland
I was born in Thurso, in the far North of Scotland and raised on a sheep and beef farm. I studied at the University of Edinburgh and then worked in Edinburgh until I left for New Zealand in February 2000.
I was initially coming to NZ for 1 year, to play some rugby and travel but work opportunities meant I stayed on a little longer – coming up 18 years! I spent a year in Nelson before moving to the Manawatu in January 2001 followed by a 20-month stint in Invercargill working at the NZ Aluminium Smelter. I have been back in Palmerston North since late 2007 and love being able to get outdoors and make the most of the kiwi lifestyle, especially fishing and scuba diving. I have been with NZP for over four and a half years now, my role as the Head of Engineering offers both challenge and variety - there are always a range of different projects and maintenance issues to balance.
