|Description||Heparin sodium is a sulphated glycosaminoglycan, which occurs in various mammalian tissues including the liver, lungs and intestine. Heparin has the characteristic property of delaying blood clotting through its action on antithrombin III which inhibits the activity of thrombin and Factor Xa. Thrombin and Factor Xa influence conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin, which is the main blood clotting process.
NZP's heparin sodium API is of Chinese porcine intestinal mucosa origin and is manufactured to the standards of the US and European Pharmacopoeia and also to SFDA GMP. NZP also holds a GMP certificate and a licence to pack medicines.
