Taurochenodeoxycholic acid, sodium salt

Taurochenodeoxycholic acid (TCDCA), sodium salt is manufactured by NZP from the steroid, chenodeoxycholic acid. It is a nature equivalent compound, chemically identical to the natural steroid produced in the liver of several animal and bird species, including humans. It is also known as sodium taurochenodeoxycholate. Owing to the instability of taurochenodeoxycholic acid, NZP offers only the sodium salt for sale.

Use of Chemical

TCDCA is often used as a reference standard in biomedical studies based on tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA). Taurochenodeoxycholic acid may have a wide range of novel biological activities. Current research programs are assessing TCDCA and its derivatives as agonists of the FXR and TGR5 (among other) nuclear receptors.
