Safety, Health and Environment

New Zealand Pharmaceuticals is committed to managing Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) as an integral part of our business. We believe that all work related injuries, illnesses and environmental incidents are preventable.

It is our policy to ensure the integrity of our processes and facilities at all times. We will do so by adhering to the following principles:

We will comply with all applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, relevant standards and codes of practice, and will implement programs and procedures to ensure compliance.

Where existing legislation and requirements are inadequate to fully protect people and the environment, we will endeavour to establish and meet our own SH&E standards.

We will implement management systems, monitoring systems and procedures specifically designed to prevent activities and/or conditions that pose a threat to Safety, Health and the Environment. We will minimise risk by identifying, assessing and controlling hazards and employing safe technologies and operating procedures when making planning, purchasing and operating decisions.
We will ensure staff and contractors are trained in appropriate procedures and are consulted in initiatives that contribute to a safer and improved environment at work, at home and in the community.
We will strive to prevent unplanned releases to atmosphere, land or water and be prepared for the handling of emergencies.
We will use energy efficiently and minimise the amount and toxicity of waste generated and will ensure safe treatment and disposal.

We will communicate our commitment to SH&E to our employees, suppliers, customers and other key stakeholders through our website, intranet and internal/external meetings. We will monitor and display progress against our goals and objectives.

Continual Improvement

We will continually seek opportunities to improve SH&E management systems and procedures and set and achieve targets to bring about an improvement in overall SH&E performance.
