MICHAEL CALLAGHER-Sales & Marketing Manager

Mike Callagher has been with the company since 1985. He has gained a wealth of experience throughout the company, particularly in quality systems and management. Prior to taking on the role of Commercial Manager, Mike held the positions of Production Manager and Works Chemist. Mike has a BSc in Biochemistry and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (International Business).

SELWYN YORKE-Business Development Manager

Selwyn Yorke joined NZP in 1992 His role includes identifying, accessing and developing new product and new market opportunities. He has many years experience in research gained in research institutions and companies. Selwyn holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and a business diploma. He was elected to the Fellowship of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry in 2004.

BARRY OLD-Marketing & Technical Director

Barry Old started at NZP in 1983 when he was appointed as Research Manager. Since then he has held several technical and market related positions within the company. Prior to joining NZP he was employed by the New Zealand Dairy Board and became associated with NZP through his involvement in a joint venture project. Like several other managers at NZP, Barry has a PhD in Organic Chemistry.

ANDREW LEWIS-Chief Executive Officer

Andy joined NZP in April 2005 as General Manager of NZP Ltd, responsible for ensuring the day to day management & administration of the company as well as overseeing the global procurement of key raw materials. In September 2009 Andy oversaw the acquisition of Dextra, a carbohydrate chemistry development company based in Reading (UK) and has since held the role of Executive Director for the UK subsidiary, in addition to his role as Director for the Just the Berries business. In March 2010 Andy was appointed to the role of CEO for NZP, JTB and Dextra. Prior to NZP, Andy gained experience managing a number of manufacturing companies across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as leading business mergers & transitions. Andy holds a BSc in Technology Management, an MBA from Massey University and is a Member of the NZ Institute of Directors.

RICHARD GARLAND-Executive Director

Richard Garland has been with the business since its inception. After completing a PhD in Organic Chemistry, he developed the bile acid purification process which (with many refinements) is still used today. He has held technical, operational and commercial positions in NZP before taking over the general management of the company in 1987 and leading the company through an MBO in 1998. In March 2010 Richard resigned from the role of Managing Director but is continuing as an Executive Director.

ANDREW TYLER-Finance Manager

Andrew joined NZP in early 2006 and is responsible for the financial and administration matters of the Company. He has 15 years of experience of financial management within prominent NZ manufacturing companies, most recently as Finance and operations Manager with Sunbeam Corporation Ltd.  Andrew has a BBS and is a CA member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.

DAVID SOONG-IT Manager

Prior to joining NZP in 1996, David Soong was employed as an Investigative and Management Accountant. David moved into the roll of IT Manager after working as a Management Accountant for NZP for over 5 years. David has a Business degree and post-graduate diploma in Management from Massey University and holds the designation of Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) through the NZ Computer Society. He also holds his ACA membership in the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants who in 2001, awarded David with the national title of New Zealand’s Accounting Technician of the Year.

ED TEECE-Operations Manager

Ed Teece joined NZP in April 2010 as Operations Manager. Ed has a wealth of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry, spanning over 18 years, in a variety of functions including API Development, Pharmaceutical R&D, Quality Control, Projects Management and Quality Operations Management. Prior to joining NZP, Ed held the role of Global Product Assurance Leader and EU Qualified Person (Commercial and IMP) for 3M HealthCare Ltd. Ed is a Chartered Chemist, and also holds a Masters Degree in Advanced Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Manchester. He is eligible under the Permanent Provisions to act as an EU Qualified Person (Commercial and IMP).

BRADLEY STEVENS-Production Manager

Prior to joining NZP, Brad gained 10 years experience in Australia in sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing in an FDA and ISO9001 accredited plant. Brad also worked in China commissioning a plant and training pharmaceutical operators. Brad has a Graduate Diploma in Quality Systems (GradDipQS) and brings excellent experience to production management, especially in the manufacture of GMP APIs.

PAUL WEBBER-Engineering Manager

Paul joined NZP in 1985. He is responsible for the design and installation of new equipment, the Maintenance Team and new engineering contracts. Paul holds a BE (Hons) in Chemical Engineering.

LOUIS BUCHANAN-Technical Manager

Louis joined NZP in 1984. His role involves process improvement and trouble shooting of the manufacturing operations. Louis has a wealth of experience in separation technologies for the production of natural products and plays an integral part in the scale-up of new products. Louis has a NZCS in Biochemistry and MSc Hons in Technology.

DUNCAN MCKAY-Project Manager

After gaining his MSc Hons in biochemistry from Massey University in 1988, Duncan joined NZP. He has worked with extraction technologies on a wide range of products and Project Manager for new products.

STEPHEN VAN EYK-Project Manager

Before joining NZP in 1993, Stephen worked in pharmaceuticals and fine chemistry in Australia and Germany. He now leads technical development of new product projects. Stephen holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and a business diploma.

PETER MORRIS-Quality Director

Peter Morris joined the company in 1983 after graduating from University with an MSc in Biochemistry. He worked in R&D for 5 years before joining and managing the Quality Assurance Laboratory. Peter is responsible for our QA programme and GMP systems.
